Weddings At The Viking Yurt

Weddings
There are many aspects to a yurt wedding that are totally unique - ask for details. The bride and groom exit the yurt under an arch made by their guests with skis, ski poles (military salute style) and a shower of birdseed (instead of rice) if they want their wedding to be a "tour also" event.

Teresa and Andre Jaeckie's from Tennessee "ski-dated" into the yurt. Joy arranged for local singer & pianist Mary Beth to perform during their ceremony and dinner. Mary Beth's husband was the photographer. Teresa had a long flowing train that also served as a wrap. Her daughter had a matching outfit complete with a tuff. Teresa's wedding dress was featured in Town and Country magazine. Click the thumbnails below to see photos of the wedding.

This wedding in the spring of 2002 was featured in Utah Bride & Groom as a "Weddings Of The Year !" The owner, Joy, was so impressed with local bride Kaylee's wedding cake that Kaylee made herself that Joy asked her to be The Viking Yurt's pastry chef for that season because the first chef the yurt had didn't make his own desserts. Now Kaylee makes the wedding cakes for all our yurt weddings because they are so delicious, beautiful and can survive transportation to the yurt. Kaylee also designed and made her own wedding dress of white polar fleece.
