Menu
Dinners are a set
5-course meal. There is no running water or walk in refrigerator
in the yurt so all the food must be brought up to the yurt by the chef using a
snowmobile. That is why the menu is set and adjustments must be requested in advance
of your reservation date. Menu is subject to change upon availability. Please
specify dietary needs upon reservation. The menu will
be posted under the "Dinner Menu" section of
our web page. You can e-mail us before your reservation date with
changes you might need to your menu. For example, if you are a vegetarian, have
food allergies or need an entree change to your liking.
What's New for the 2009-10 Winter Season
We are excited to announce the Viking Yurt has a new heated cab for the back of our snow cat that seats 8 more people in addition to the 32 seats in the open sleigh. This will increase our capacity from 32 to 40 seats for our dinner event. The calendars dates show how many seats are available for booking in the sleigh and heated cab separately .

And after ten years of operating without electricity, (and doing it quite well I might add), the Canyons is running electricity up to the yurt for us!
Event time: 6-10:30 PM
Event
includes:
"Tour also"
evenings - 25 min. sleigh ride each way, guided snowshoe
tour; equipment provided, 4 course dinner (cheese course not included), glogg, coffee and tea,
live piano music. The sleigh pauses for those who want to get off to snowshoe. Those people that want to ride the sleigh all the way to the yurt, just stay seated and the sleigh will deliver you to the yurt.
All
other evenings -
25 min. sleigh ride each
way, 5 course dinner, glogg, coffee and tea live piano music
Evening Agenda:
Meet at The Daylodge/locker room in the forum at The Canyons Ski
Resort at 6 pm sharp!
We provide big blankets for the sleigh ride which is 25 minutes,
takes you up the ski runs and over the ridge - a 1000 vertical foot
rise with spectacular views .
* Most evenings the sleigh delivers you straight to TheViking Yurt.
* On "tour also" evenings after the 25 min. sleigh ride
pauses in front of you are delivered to The Red Pine Lodge for those of you that want to do the snowshoe experience. From there your guide equips
you for the snowshoe tour through the forest which lasts
about 20 minutes. The glow of the yurt and sounds from the piano
guide you inside where you'll be offered a hot Norwegian drink called
glogg.Your elegant 4-course dinner and live piano music awaits.
* There is no special pricing for children as we only
have a very limited number of seats. We do not recommend children under
10 yrs. old because the The Viking Yurt experience is a long elegant
affair. We do offer a chicken entree for kids.
* Your credit card will be charged the balance
amount 72 hours before your reservation date and a non-refundable
per seat $25 deposit upfront to block out your seats on the
date you wish to come.
* A wine, beer & liquor selection is available at the Yurt.
If you request it, we can e-mail you our beverage list in advance
if you would like to preview the wine/champagne/beer/liquor list.
You may bring your own wine and a $15 corkage fee per bottle will
be applied. Utah State liquor laws do NOT allow you to bring other
alcohol than wine/sparkling wine NOR consume alcohol on the sleigh
ride. If you bring anything else than wine to be corked by our servers
inside the yurt, we will take it from you.
Meeting time: 6:00 P.M. DO NOT BE LATE ….or the sleigh will leave without you and there is no other way
up to the Yurt! If you are late and miss the sleigh you will not
receive a refund…..so for goodness sake…be on time!
Cancellation Policy
No refunds within 72 hours of reservation, a $25 per person cancellation fee otherwise.
Private parties and Sundance week have a different cancellation policy: no refunds within 2 weeks of reservation date.
Attire
Dress for winter conditions, layers are best.
Bring a hat and mittens. The snowshoes strap onto your winter boots.
A nice sweater is a good
idea for your fancy dinner. It is warm & luxurious inside the
yurt so again we recommend layers.
Release
Form
All customers are required to sign a release form before boarding the sleigh. It basically states that you agree that you are going to a high altitude where there are no emergency medical facilities, that you agree that during the sleigh ride to stay seated with your seat belts on, not to consume alcohol during the sleigh ride and that it can be slippery pretty much everywhere. Rest assured it has nothing to do with the food. If you would like to preview the release form click here; release
